Name: Saudi Society of Nephrology & Transplantation.

Article (3):
Objectives:
- To develop and promote educational activities for health workers in renal care.
- To participate in spreading public health awareness and to provide support for renal patients.
- To develop professional and scientific practice of the Society members.
To ease the exchange of research outcomes and scientific ideas between local and international agencies and institutes concerned. - To participate in formulating plans related to renal diseases and transplantation.
- To promote the highest quality of care for patients with renal diseases.
Means:
- The society shall endeavor to achieve the aforementioned objectives by all legal means, and may especially opt to exercise the following aspects of activitys:
- Encouraging and supporting scientific research
- Writing and translating scientific works in the field of kidney diseases and patient care
- Carrying out scientific studies to help improve applied practice sides
Organizing symposiums, seminars, workshops and courses related to the objectives and interests of the society - Setting up educative channels to provide better care of nephrology patient
- Participating in local and international activities in the field of kidney
- Inviting concerned Professors and physicians to participate in the activities of the society
- Arranging scientific trips for the society members
- Providing scientific consultation in kidney diseases and transplantation fields to the authorities which may need such consultation
- Designing and supervising the website of the society to be a tributary of Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Cooperating with the governmental bodies, and scientific institutions, companies and societies to accomplish the objectives set by the society
Article (4):
Membership – Regulations and Procedures:
A membership is divided into five types supervised by membership committee which is headed by a member of the board of directors.
Types of membership:
1. Active membership:
- Shall be granted to whom fulfills the conditions which are: to be consultant or specialist physician specialized in kidney diseases and transplantation, practices work in the kingdom, and has a certificate acknowledged by The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
- An active membership shall grant its holder the right to stand for election, vote, enter the members section on the website, and get the periodicals for free
- Fees shall be paid according to regulations
2. Affiliation membership:
- Shall be granted to resident and working physicians, and who are interested in the field of the society such as pharmacists, nurses, and health-educated
- An affiliate member shall not have the right to vote or stand for election. However, he can enter the website of the society and get the periodicals for free

3. Honorary membership
- Shall be granted to somebody who has effective contributions intended to support the field of kidney diseases and transplantation or the society. He shall be nominated by a member of the society, and his membership shall be sanctioned by the board of directors and approved by the chairman
- An honorary member shall have the right to attend periodical and extraordinary meetings of the general assembly
- He shall not have the right to vote or stand for election
- He shall be exempted from any participation fees
4. Permanent membership
- Shall be granted to nephrologists who are sixty five years old according to the Hijri calendar
- It shall be sanctioned by the board of directors and approved by the chairman
- A permanent member shall have the right to attend periodical and extraordinary meetings of the general assembly and to enter the members section on the website
- He shall have the right only to vote
- He shall be exempted from any participation fees
- It could be converted to active membership if conditions were fulfilled
5. International membership
- Shall be granted to nephrologists whom the conditions of active membership are applied to, and who work outside the kingdom
- An international member shall have the right to vote
- He shall not have the right to stand for election; however, he can enter the website of the society and get the periodicals for free
- He shall have the right to attend the meetings
- Fees shall be paid according to regulations
6. Student membership: Shall be granted to Medical Students showing interest in the field of Nephrology or participating in society’s activities
Article (5):
Membership – Regulations and Procedures:
- To be of good conduct and never been criminally judged
- To officially submit the application of membership on the form of the society, in writing or by e-mail
- To pay participation fees
- All membership applications shall be submitted to the secretary of the society. Thereupon, a recommendation shall be submitted to the chairman
- A membership shall be effective from the date of final approval, not from the date a request was submitted
- The period of a membership shall be one year; a member shall have the right to request a next three years membership
- The longer the period of membership request is, the less the fee is. It is according to the annual fees approved by the board of directors
